In the constitution, it is read that the Vice President chooses the Secretary of State, Defense, and interior. This law makes no sense whatsoever. There is no reason for the nation which comes in second, the Vice President, should be allowed to choose the members of the President's Cabinet! The president should be allowed to choose their own members of the cabinet. This law would only make sense if the president and the Vice President ran on the same ticket. Most likely, the President and the Vice President have different opinions. Why should the Vice President choose what the president's cabinet should be, a group of people who's opinions should align with the president, not the Vice President! If this law is passed, it should go in effect with the current president. (If you vote for or against this proposal, please state why in the thread below.) Since this is an executive decision, more than half of congress will need to vote against it for this not to pass. I will lock this thread once all 3 congressmen have voted on it.

This law is crazy! It is absolutely stupid that it shouldn't be changed.

Just to remind you all, only congressmember's votes will be counted, so if you have voted and you aren't a congress member, please remove your vote.

Also, for anyone who says this is the spoils of war system, don't forget that the populous still votes on the two choices that are picked for each secretary. Also, freedom, could you please state why you are voting no?

Let me just say this. By letting the Vice President choose the Cabinet, WE PREVENT THE SPOILS SYSTEM. This is a big deal; after all, we don't want politicians "buying" votes from people. That would be wrong and immoral.
Also, the Cabinet serves a different purpose in our region than in the U.S. government. The President does not consult the Cabinet at all. That isn't a job of any Secretary (the Constitution doesn't say "the President should consult the Cabinet". The Cabinet perform different tasks that don't relate to the Presidency. So, it would be WRONG to call the Cabinet the "President's Cabinet".

What confuses me is how you think that it's the "President's Cabinet." It's not really a Cabinet in the first place. The President doesn't consult any of the officers. The Secretaries serve other purposes, as noted by the Constitution. But the Constitution doesn't say that the President should consult the Secretaries.

Don't you realize this whole scheme... Ben is just trying to seize power from the Vice President.

Your comments are pointless considering your vote means nothing. Well, my vote DOES mean something. I REFUSE to vote for this preposterous bill. We do not need to add any more power to the president. This is one of the few powers of the vice-president. Taking it away would make the position basically useless. And Sam should be picking the cabinet members today. No one has the power to freeze the law and process stated in the Constitution. Medecion, you cannot just stop the Cabinet elections until the law is changed in your favor. This poll should not even be relevant to this current Cabinet election! And Suleyman is right. The cabinet has absolutely nothing to do with you. It is in no way “your Cabinet.” I am holding off my vote.
